We call this the Wall of Shame. Like trophies to a big game hunter, we mount the grills of the great Mopars we have hunted to gather parts. Now don't get mad at us for killing these cars, blame the harsh Midwest climate & salty roads. Here we have the grills of:  a 1973 Duster, two '73 Darts, a '73 Satellite Sebring Plus, a '74 Rallye Challenger, and a '75 Dart. The one that broke my heart the most was the Satellite, I cried for days. From the Satellite is where I got the 400 to build a 451. She had a mint interior (now residing in my brother's Road Runner), and a 4-speed with a pistol grip. She was rusty & didn't have a title. On the '73 Duster, the front sub-frame was literally falling off the body. The three Darts all had serious cancer issues, plus two of the three were 4-doors. The '74 Challenger had the Rallye option and was pretty much stripped by the previous owners, not to mention the car broke in half when I pushed it off the trailer and it hit my driveway. Too bad you can't save them all. But we sold and used parts off these cars to finance much of our Duster and Dart projects.

1974 Challenger with the Rallye option. It was originally  yellow,  with a black interior and a 318 small block. It looks good in pictures, but in real life the under side was gone. Floors and frame rails were history. When I rolled it off the car hauler something let loose and only the roof was keeping the car in one piece. Somebody tried to restore this car at one time and did a horrible job. Instead of cutting off the quarters to replace them, they used pop rivits to put the new quarter over the old rusty quarter.

From twenty feet away during a major blizzard, you couldn't tell. She donated some odd-ball parts for my Challenger and the 318 is now our infamous donor motor.

1973 Dodge Dart. This one is a two door, 318 car. She donated her V8 K-frame to the Duster resto, as well as the disc brakes and misc. interior trim and pieces. The rest of the parts were sold on Ebay and the car scrapped, it looks okay in the picture but it was in bad shape. If you look closely, the rear quarter panel is just about gone. All it needed was quarter panels and a title. I bought this off a cop near Midland who wanted to do a father-son project. He started to do the paper work for a new title but gave up. To much red tape! The 318 now resides in my buddy's pole barn for his A-100 van.

This girl broke my heart! 1973 Satellite Sebring Plus. 400 HP 4 bbl, 4spd pistol grip, and a sure-gripped 8 3/4 rear end. Factory triple black (black paint, black vinyl top, black interior). I bought it from a police auction with no title. Trying to get a title in Michigan is a pain. The quarters & floors were gone, so I did the only thing I could do, strip it of all the good parts. The 8 3/4 was narrowed & installed in the Duster, the pistol grip shifter, steering wheel, 400 HP big block & misc. other parts were sold on Ebay to pay for parts the Duster needed.

Although dirty, this interior was near mint. Notice the Tuff steering wheel and pistol grip shifter. She got her revenge on me though, she sent me to the Emergency room twice from all the rusty jagged metal.

Before I killed her off I replaced the plug wires that mice use for chew toys and poured some gas down the carb. She quickly came to life. I've never owned a 4 speed Mopar before so I decided to back it down to the end of the driveway. I roasted those polyglass till the smoke came into the car and choked me. I also got caught up in the heat of the moment and forgot this pig didn't have any brakes. With a little Fred Flintstone action I got her stopped before I plowed into my garage door.

1973 Plymouth Duster. I bought this car pretty much for the front bumper. The front subframe split from the floor pan. But the slant six sure ran great! This old girl had zero options, the $10 for undercoating would have paid for itself here. Too bad the original buyer didn't put the check mark on the order form at the dealership.

Rear view of Duster. Plain Jane, no stripes, nothing special about it at all A lot of the interior trim pieces were repainted and put into the Duster we restored. But this car's body was shot.

1973 Dodge Dart .I bought this for the front clip and disc brakes for my '76 dart. I pulled the 318 to keep for when I grenade the one that is in the Duster. But after getting the engine out I saw somebody beat me to the punch line. I must of had too many beers in me not to see that connecting rod hanging out the oil pan.

This 1975 Dodge Dart was an Ebay purchase. Paid $127 for this tetanus shot waiting to happen. It had a mint dash pad that I needed. Good dash pads are almost impossible to find in a ratty parts car.

Here she is on the car hauler of doom. She also had some issues with the torsion bar mounts.

1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. I bought this off Ebay and am sure glad I did. The original color according to the build sheet was Sublime, it had been repainted several times in several different colors but someone put the Sublime back on at the end. Not only did it have the rear tail light panel to convert my '76 Dart but it came with mint doors with the vent windows, some pretty rare 4 piston disc brakes and an 8 3/4 rearend with a sure grip. There were also some miscellaneous goodies in the interior of the car, & another grill for the Wall of Shame.

The story goes like this. The car was restored in the early 90's. I can believe it because of the purple & pink pinstriping & other foo foo graphics. Anyway, the owner decides to make a race car out of it & removes the front clip & hacks the inner fenders out. The owner gets nailed with drugs and goes to jail to meet his new husband. The landlord is tired of the car taking up space in the rental house's garage & the car goes to impound. Now the salvage yard gets it from the impound yard and lists the old girl on Ebay.

This car would have been restorable but some how the front framerails got tweeked. Maybe it was a bad idea to cut those inner fenderwells out, you think?

Picked up this 1974 Newport with the original, untouched 440 and trans still in place. We saved what we could off the car (which wasn't much) and scrapped the rest. This picture shows when we jacked up the front end and it split in two, also causing the 440 to drop several inches down into the engine bay.

Yeah, it's rusty.

Check out this mega hole in the trunk.

Here it is at the scrapyard, in the process of dying. This time next year it should be 3 or 4 Toyotas.
